I am a junior journalist working from Newshub, Whakaata māori, Nz herald and pacific media network newsrooms. I also do contracting mahi for parakore creating online waste educational content and delivering workshops to promote a world without waste from a māori worldview.
Anything that involved me jumping into spaces that seemed too scary and too big for me. Completing a 1/4 Ironman. Doing a full immersion Te Reo māori class to reclaim my Reo. Being a part of wānanga, internships, panels and mahi that contribute to the wellbeing of my people & planet.
My whānau & hapori. Self determination. People who believed in me & gave me opportunities that got my foot in doors I otherwise would’ve never been able to enter.
A healthy environment where Te iwi māori are thriving and have sovereignty over our kai, wai and whenua. That’s my dream. Success for me personally also looks like speaking Te Reo māori, being healthy, happy and having time freedom to enjoy my life.
Don’t cut your own fringe you weirdo and also - take a risk life’s not that deep you don’t need to follow the same path everyone else is on. You’ll be right. Be your authentic self and enjoy where that takes you.
